What You Will Be Doing:
Client Liaison and Engagement Management:
- Serve as the primary contact between the client and the firm’s service team, overseeing all phases of the engagement.
- Maintain close relationships with clients, ensuring continuous service quality and addressing their financial and tax needs throughout the year.
- Manage engagements by monitoring progress, budgeted time, and completion schedules, striving for efficient and profitable execution.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements and tax returns, ensuring timely submission and adherence to standards.
Staff Management and Development:
- Manage and mentor team members, conducting performance reviews and encouraging skill development.
- Delegate assignments effectively, set high expectations, and provide guidance on technical and professional development.
- Assist in recruiting efforts and professional training, including presenting internal training sessions and conducting continuing professional education (CPE) seminars.
Technical Expertise and Knowledge Sharing:
- Apply technical knowledge in taxation and accounting, particularly in specialized industries like construction, manufacturing, or non-profit.
- Research and resolve tax and accounting questions, provide recommendations, and stay updated on changes in regulations and best practices.
- Share technical expertise with team members to enhance the firm’s capabilities.
Sales, Marketing, and Business Development:
- Promote the firm by engaging in professional, community, and business organizations.
- Actively seek opportunities to expand services with existing clients and develop new client relationships.
- Aim to increase personal and firm revenue through networking, client engagements, and leadership roles in local organizations.
Technology and Process Improvement:
- Utilize firm-supported software like Microsoft Office, tax, and accounting software, and maintain proficiency with time and billing tools.
- Participate in internal initiatives to enhance firm processes and embrace technological changes, serving as a technology “champion” when needed.
- Recommend improvements to the firm’s workflow and ensure compliance with firm best practices.
Experience You Will Need:
- In-depth knowledge of tax laws and accounting principles, including specialized industries like construction or non-profits.
- Proficiency in tax preparation, financial reporting, and general accounting practices, with a foundational understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience managing staff, conducting performance reviews, and fostering professional development.
- Ability to lead client engagements, maintain client relationships, and deliver high-quality service. Sales and Marketing Experience:
- Skills in business development, including the ability to identify new client opportunities and expand existing client services.
- Experience with client-facing roles, including presenting at professional events and involvement in community organizations. Technology Proficiency:
- Familiarity with software tools used in accounting and tax preparation (e.g., ProSystem Fx, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Comfort with learning new software and promoting technological improvements within the firm.
