Summary:
The Project Manager (PM) will be responsible for overseeing and directing all administrative, staffing, scheduling and technical aspects of assigned Drilling Projects and support requests from the Drilling Division Manager (DDM) and Assistant Drilling Division Manager (ADDM). The PM is also responsible for meeting project deadlines, managing and meeting project budgets, and preparation of deliverables to clients or internal staff. The PM will report to and receive training from the DDM and/or ADDM.

Responsibilities and Duties:
Provide clear and effective communication (verbal, written and electronic) with hiring companies Clients, DDM and ADDM, Clients Engineers, Drill Crews and other staff associated with projects.
Act as the project liaison with Clients, outside team members or project managers and Client’s internal engineering team. Provide regular communication on progress, results and issues.
Coordinate with internal Engineering staff and DDM regarding project status, deliverables, budgets, technical issues, access issues and work scope changes.
Prepare job instruction packages for drillers and communicate project scope, requirements and timelines.
Review project documents, contracts, drill instructions and budgets and coordinate scheduling and implementation of projects.
Perform site reconnaissance of project sites and layout exploration locations with GPS equipment. Communicate with onsite personnel, evaluate utilities, access points, and terrain issues and communicate issues to the project team. Adjust field layouts based on site conditions.
Coordinate underground utility clearing tasks and discuss concerns with the project team. Have ability to read project plans, utility maps and understand utility issues prior to drilling. Prepare UDIG NY notifications and follow up on responses.
Manage field teams and review collected data for completeness and accuracy. Process data or coordinate processing and delivery to project teams or Clients.
Review data, produce site maps and GPS data, prepare soil boring logs, review rock cores, review asphalt cores, concrete cores, infiltration test data, GPS and prepare reports and deliverables for Clients or the internal Engineering team.
Perform field logging and drill rig inspection as required and verify Clients driller compliance with industry standards and project objectives. Daily communication with drill crews on progress and issues.
Prepare change orders and budgets for variations in work scope and coordinate with DDM or ADDM regarding changes to work scope. Assess changes within contract requirements.
Coordinate schedules with DDM and assist in tracking and keeping projects on schedule. Additionally, coordinate site access and site work with facilities as needed.
Prepare and review invoices, budgets and change orders. Review project contract requirements and understand contract requirements.
Understand drill rig capabilities, drilling methods, drill rig functions and mechanical aspects and requirements for drilling work. Support DDM in managing drill teams, equipment and general shop operations.
Obtain training on GPS and survey equipment, infiltration testing, soil classification, core evaluation, laboratory testing types and results, as well as drilling and exploration methods and limitations.
Obtain safety training for all required tasks and projects.
Maintain open lines of communication with teams and Clients teams to deliver exceptional service.
Support DDM with operations of the division.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must possess an Associates or Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology, Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or related area of study. Geology degree is preferred but not required.
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License that meets Client’s driving requirements as discuss in the Client’s Employment Handbook.
Minimum 5-years of experience in the geotechnical industry, geological fields, or with project management within the construction fields. PM experience is required.
Ability to work variable work hours and travel overnight.
Must complete the OSHA 10-Hour Safety course within the first month of employment.
Have ability to work in the field and perform physical labor where lifting, standing and physical work is required.
Ability to work in a team environment with clients and internal staff in a collaborative and rapid paced environment.
Strong organizational and planning skills.
High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel), PDF editors, GPS data, Google Earth mapping and ability to produce report level deliverables.
Strong written and communication skills.
Strong problem solver with critical thinking skills.
