Senior Defense Litigator

El Segundo, CA

What you will be doing:
  • Represent clients in a wide range of defense litigation matters, including but not limited to commercial, insurance, personal injury, and employment cases.
  • Manage and oversee the full lifecycle of cases, from pre-litigation strategy through trial and post-trial motions.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare case documentation, including pleadings, motions, and discovery.
  • Develop case strategies, identify key issues, and provide legal advice to clients.
  • Lead depositions, motion hearings, and other legal proceedings, ensuring strong advocacy in the courtroom.
  • Handle negotiations, settlements, and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress and potential outcomes.
  • Supervise and mentor junior associates and legal staff, providing guidance on case management and strategy.
  • Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents in defense litigation.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share insights, strategies, and legal knowledge.
Experience you will need:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of defense litigation experience with a strong focus on trial experience.
  • Proven track record of handling complex litigation matters from pre-trial to trial, including substantial courtroom experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal arguments clearly and persuasively.
  • Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficient in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Admission to the state bar and the ability to practice law in the jurisdiction of employment.
Salary: $200,000 - $250,000/year
