What You Will Be Doing:
As a Probate Court Attorney, you will be responsible for managing deceased probate cases within the New York Surrogate Court system. This role does not include estate planning or real estate filings. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Preparing & Drafting Surrogate's Court petitions and legal documents for Probate or Administration of an Estate.
- Case Management of probate filings, including follow-ups on filed cases.
- Asset Review: Analyzing bank and business records, identifying trust and non-trust assets, and determining asset titles.
- Client & Court Communications: Effectively liaising with clients, court offices, and other parties involved in probate cases.
- Court Filings: Submitting documents via mail or e-filing through NYSCEF.
- File & Meeting Preparation: Organizing client files and preparing materials for meetings.
- Performing other probate-related tasks as assigned.
Experience You Will Need:
- 3+ years of experience handling deceased probate cases within the New York Surrogate Court system.
- Strong expertise in New York probate administration and court proceedings.
- Proficiency in drafting and filing probate/administration matters.
- Experience with NYSCEF e-filing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and skilled in problem-solving.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, email, and legal platforms.
- Excellent client service skills, with patience and empathy.
Salary: $90,000 - $140,000/year
