Tax Associate Attorney

What you will be doing:

  • Advise on U.S. federal income tax, international tax, and state and local tax planning.
  • Support domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, investment fund formations, and real estate transactions, including preparing related documents and filings.
  • Assist in tax controversy matters such as voluntary disclosures, audits, appeals, litigation, and collections involving the IRS, Tax Court, Department of Justice (Tax Division), and state tax authorities.
  • Conduct complex legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare supporting materials.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff.

Experience you will need:

  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the New York bar.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or government tax practice.
  • Strong academic performance.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • LL.M. in Taxation preferred
  • Doctor of Law preferred.
  • Interest and/or experience in corporate and real estate transaction tax planning.
  • Exposure to tax controversy matters and administrative or litigation proceedings.
  • Familiarity with international tax compliance and cross-border tax structures.
Salary: $195,000 - $240,000/year
