What you will be doing:
- Advise on U.S. federal income tax, international tax, and state and local tax planning.
- Support domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, investment fund formations, and real estate transactions, including preparing related documents and filings.
- Assist in tax controversy matters such as voluntary disclosures, audits, appeals, litigation, and collections involving the IRS, Tax Court, Department of Justice (Tax Division), and state tax authorities.
- Conduct complex legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare supporting materials.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
Experience you will need:
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.
- Admission to the New York bar.
- 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in a law firm, accounting firm, or government tax practice.
- Strong academic performance.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- LL.M. in Taxation preferred
- Doctor of Law preferred.
- Interest and/or experience in corporate and real estate transaction tax planning.
- Exposure to tax controversy matters and administrative or litigation proceedings.
- Familiarity with international tax compliance and cross-border tax structures.
Salary: $195,000 - $240,000/year
